The company has its geotechnical laboratory, which played a crucial role in the patent application process—one of the first in Europe. This laboratory has allowed and continues to enable us to perform advanced geotechnical tests and analyses, which have been essential for supporting our research and validating the effectiveness of BATISTÉN.
Our geotechnical laboratory marks a milestone in our capacity for innovation and leadership in eco-sustainable solutions for eco-construction. We stand out for significantly reducing the carbon footprint in creating road infrastructures with BATISTÉN compared to conventional materials like concrete and asphalt, including the latest-generation versions.
Characteristics of BATISTÉN
BATISTÉN is unique in its class, combining concrete's load-bearing strength with asphalt's wear resistance. BATISTÉN can withstand high vehicular traffic loads, meeting the European Union's eco-sustainability standards, such as —bioreuse— biodegradability in terms of material reuse —but not biodegradability in terms of planned obsolescence— resulting in a significant carbon footprint reduction, aligning with the circular economy. In 2021, we presented European Patent Number EP20382761.3, following a process initiated in 2019, one of the first of its kind in Europe. This process was made possible by evaluating numerous projects in environmentally sensitive areas of the Canary Islands and the Iberian Peninsula.
Multidisciplinary Team
Since the company's inception, we have brought on board shareholders with expertise in construction materials as well as cross-disciplinary sustainability experts, including professionals in law and environmental science and experts in soil, geology, and chemical and mechanical engineering. Their collective knowledge and experience have been instrumental in supporting our research and developing a new and innovative material that is the resulting eco-sustainable product —depending on the type of infrastructure— of either stabilization or mixing, which we have named BATISTÉN. This material is produced using execution processes that differ from standard concrete and asphalt methods, giving rise to our proprietary technological process, BATISTEADO.
Laboratory Services
- Soil Analysis. This service involves evaluating the physical and chemical properties of the soil in the project area. Aspects such as texture, composition, density, moisture content, pH, and mineral presence are analyzed to determine soil suitability for the project, aid in material selection, and choose the most appropriate construction techniques.
- Strength Testing. We perform strength tests to assess the material or structure's capacity to withstand external loads or forces without experiencing excessive deformation or failure. These tests are conducted on BATISTÉN in the same way they are performed on materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and others, providing crucial information on the project's integrity and durability.
- Durability Testing. This evaluates the material's ability to withstand degradation caused by environmental factors such as humidity, temperature, exposure to chemical agents, and more. These tests help predict the long-term behaviour of materials and structures and are essential to ensure project durability.
- Quality Assurance Results. Once the tests and analyses are completed, we issue detailed reports summarising the results, ensuring the project's quality and reliability. These quality assurance reports are important documents that support the project's suitability and safety for clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
